When manufacturers of valve seat inserts, cast iron bars, and valves design a new race engine, the management of heat in poppet valves and the heat transferring through them is a small aspect. Yet it has an effect on reliability and performance. Engineers need to look to other ways to keep the valves head cool where internal cooling seems next to impossible or allowed under the rules.
